You know what pisses me off? Like really. I know there's more serious things to be mad about, but this really gets to me.
They closed Nickelodeon Studios last year. Whatever, that had time to sink in. What I only JUST found out, though... they REMOVED the freaking time capsule that was impanted there in 1992. I remember when they were getting us kids to say what we wanted to put in the time capsule. I remember it was a big deal, or at least it seemed that way to me. And they took it away! wtf.
Well, as the time capsule says, it shouldn't have been opened until April 20, 2042. I guess it's childish to think that they would have upheld this whole thing, especially because it seems to have been long-forgotten among my fellow kids of 1992. I mean, honestly, I completely forgot about it until I read it was removed. But, now I feel guilty (for my younger self's benefit, I guess). I feel like they took a nice idea, that allowed kids to become involved, and then they just kind of went like "Meh, whatever" and yanked it out. Where is the time capsule? Is it actually opened, or did they just open the hatch for it?
This is really irritating me!
This is what wikipedia says...
The Slime Geyser in front of Soundstage 18 was removed in May 2005. The trademark "Nickelodeon" sign above the facility was removed in January 2006. A time capsule buried by the network in 1992 in front of Soundstage 18 was removed in mid-August, 2006 and was replaced with a concrete slab. The Time Capsule contained items deemed to be important to the children of 1992 as voted upon by Nickelodeon viewers, and included such items as a new Nintendo GameBoy, a then-current issue of "Nickelodeon Magazine" and other various toys, many of which were Nick-related. The time capsule was scheduled to be opened on April 30, 2042, 50 years after it was buried.
Oh well. School has started. Procrastination continues. Everything is going great.
Oh yeah. I have an audition for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: Pop Culture Week tomorrow. Wish me luck!
What books are on your nightstand?
Three Black Skirts by Anna Johnson, SparkNotes Literature 101, and a couple of magazines. Wow, that sounds vapid, haha.
I haven't posted in a while. Not much has been happening, really. At least, not much that isn't in my mind. My brains been pretty googley-moogley lately.
Things I haven't had in the past week or so:
Meat.
Soda (one or two cans at the most in the past week)
Caffeine
Fast food.
I DID have some of Patrick's fries the other night. And of course, a can of Dr. Pepper and a can of Diet Coke (BAD Aspertame, BAD). But, mostly, it's been fruit, vegetables, whole grains, etc. I splurged and had some soup from Panera Bread yesterday for lunch (along with that Dr. Pepper, wtf).
I had the weirdest craving for Bruschetta this morning, to the point where I was looking up recipes. But, I went to the grocery store and they had a container of it pre-made. So I put some on organic Melba Toast and it was freaking delicious.
Also, the grocery near my workplace has this weird pre-packaged fruit puree. It was in this little squeezable pouch with a plastic nozzle that you suck on and the puree comes out. It says on the package how many of each fruit is in it (so, like, 6 Strawberries, 1/2 banana and 1 apple)... it was actually very good. I forget the brand, but next time I'm over there, I'm going to get some more to keep at home (I work roughly 45 minutes away from home, so it's not like I can just head over there on a whim).
Anyway. All of this has been exhausting. I took a 5 hour nap today. I don't know if eating natural foods is all it's cracked up to be, or if my body is just going to have to get used to it.
I have a new position at work. I usually am a receptionist at the dealership, but now I work in the office where I take apart car deals and do a little of the booking in the cars and the billing. I think I like it much better. It includes a raise and less public interaction. I'm a very nice, friendly person, but the truth is, I hate talking to strangers and acting all perky and helpful. In this position, I mostly interact with the other people in the office and the salespeople and finance people. It's a nice change of pace.
What's your favorite drink or cocktail? What's in it?

Jack and Diet Coke. I feel really hardcore whenever I order it.
My second favorite is a whiskey sour. I think I'm an old man at heart.
On an entirely different note, I want to get this book. I don't particularly want to become Vegan, but I'd like to have someone kick my ass about eating more healthy and more organic foods. When I was in Italy, I ate a lot of carbs and stuff, but everything was fresh and unprocessed, so I ended up losing a little bit of weight. I also need to wean myself off sugar. This past week, I've been concentrating on whole grains (mostly pita), hummus, avocado, fresh vegetables, and such. I of course ruined it with cheese cake. But whatever. I don't beat myself up over that sort of thing. I just need to concentrate on not sticking all sorts of junky chemicals and sugars in my body, and if I end up losing weight in the process then that will just be a bonus.
Anyone have any tips?
Who is your favorite Muppet? Why?

Rowlf.
Because I had a crush on him when I was younger.
My second favorite is the Swedish Chef. For obvious reasons. Børk! Børk! Børk!
If you knew how I long for you now that you're gone
you'd grow wings and fly home to me home tonight
and in the morning sun let's pretend we're
bunny rabbits Let's do it all day long Let abbots,
Babbits and Cabots say Mother Nature's wrong
and when we've had a coupla beers we'll put on
bunny suits I long to nibble your ears and do
as bunnies do Let's pretend we're bunny rabbits
Let's do it all day long rapidly becoming rabid
singing little rabbit songs I can keep it up all night
I can keep it up all day Let's pretend we're bunny
rabbits until we pass away Let's pretend we're
bunny rabbits until we pass away
I finally posted some pictures from Italy. I'm testing the features on this site and so far so good, I enjoy it.
Here are a few of my favorites:
This is the view of the coastline from the Greek Theatre in Taormina (Sicily). I think that was my favorite town.
World cup! Naples went from being a ghost town (literally, EVERYone was at home watching the game or in bars) to this.. in like... two seconds.
It was so hard to get a picture of Pompeii without sixty million people in it.
San Marcos Square had a ton of birds. A ton of birds with a ton of diseases. And a ton of people weren't privvy to that fact, or they didn't care, so they fed them and let them climb all over them. I was so shocked when I saw parents letting their kids touch the birds and stuff. Oh well, it was crazy, though!
And of course there are many more. I made a little collection:
here I haven't uploaded all the pictures yet, but I will eventually.
Anyway. Take care!
Well, I just got back from Italy on Saturday. Italy was sometimes beautiful and sometimes not so much, but the whole thing was an awesome experience and I have every intention of returning.
I'll also post pictures once I get my new memory card reader.
Tomorrow is going to be over 100 degrees, wtf.
Pitseleh - Elliott Smith
i'll tell you why i don't want to know where you are
i got a joke i been dying to tell you
a silent kid is looking down the barrel
to make the noise that i kept so quiet
i kept it from you, pitseleh
i'm not what's missing from your life now
i could never be the puzzle pieces
they say that god makes problems
just to see what you can stand
before you do as the devil pleases
and give up the thing you love
but no one deserves it
the first time i saw you i knew it would never last
i'm not half what i wish i was
i'm so angry
i don't think it'll ever pass
and i was bad news for you just because
i never meant to hurt you
